Report from Amy Hollingsworth:

Once again Canada had the formidable task to play balanced, patoent hockey against a team whose obvious goal was to defend with all 11 players in the circle. Thea Culley put Canada on the board early with a great goal off a breakdown on a penalty corner. Canada forced to penetrate the Bermuda circle with patient and well executed passing around the permimeter.
Canada's team play was rewarded many penalty corners and Megan Anderson's option put Canada ahead 2-0 in the 7th minute. Jess Denys launched a cannon like shot to score Canada's third after many minutes of tenacious circle play. Bermuda continued to guard their circle with all 11 players leaving very few spaces and scoring opportunities. Thea Culley notched her second of three with determined play in the 32nd minute. Canada headed to the bench up 4-0 at half time.

Heat and humidity played a major role in this game as both teams were given scheduled water breaks at the 17 1/2 minute of each half and an extended 10 minute half time rest. Canada came out determined to match and surpass their first half efforts. The second half is best described as a penalty corner bonanza and Jess Denys made no mistake scoring a natural hat trick in the 49th, 53rd, and 61st minutes. Two penalty corner goals were scored with well executed drag flicks. Thea Culley rounded out the scoring with a pc goal in the 63rd minute completing her second hat trick in as amny days.

Canada earned a 8-0 victory but is not satisfied with their level of play and intensity. Canada is off Friday and then continues play against the USA on Saturday at 7:30am. Canada will look to use their training time Friday to build on their intensity in preparation against the US.

Starting for Canada: Danielle Wilson, Thea Culley, Mary Glen, Katie Rushton, Tiffany Michaluk, Emma Carbery, Hilary Linton, Megan Anderson, Tyla Flexman, Karen Mann, Jess Denys.

Substitutions: Cailie O'Hara, Ali Lee, Katie Baker, Robyn Evans, Jaime Bawden
