The Jamaica Hockey Federation's effort to grow the sport from the youth level continues with the scheduled departure of the Under-21 female team yesterday to participate in the fifth Junior Pan Am games in Puerto Rico.

The competition begins tomorrow when Jamaica tackle Chile in the opening match at 8:00 am.

On Sunday, March 20, Munro College Old Boys Hockey Club (MCOBHC) will host Austrian's Viennese Waltz (a veteran team) in a one-day rally which will expose our National Under-21 male team and Munro College's school boys in a competitive game with our visitors. The Austrian delegation includes Walter Kapounek, the president of the Austrian Hockey Federation and Christoph Scharner, the president of SV Arminen Koller Transporte, the parent club of Viennese Waltz. The touring team will play two veteran teams, a Vice-president 11 at 10:00 am and MCOBHC at 4:00 pm.

The first renewal of the Captain Milton Richards Memorial Tournament starts on Saturday April 2, and continues through to Sunday April 3, in honour of an outstanding national goalkeeper, a sportsman, held in high regard both in the fraternity and the JDF.

Following the reports on the male Under-21 team's performance in Cuba during the recently concluded Junior Pan-AM games, which pointed to several inadequacies in the arrangements for the tour, the president of the JHF, Mark Lindsay, took full responsibility and resigned with immediate effect last Thursday. The honourary secretary Dinsdale Laing will assume the role of acting president, as dictated by the constitution and approved in a vote at an emergency council meeting held last Saturday.
