Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) league matches involving Mvita XI were over the weekend shelved following the suspension of the coastal teams.

The team fielded ineligible players and ignored summon to appear before the match and fixtures committee.

And in the women’s national league, two matches involving Armed Forces were also postponed.

KHU secretary Peter Kiruma said the soldiers are yet to confirm participation in the league.

Consequently, only three matches were played, one in each of the three categories — premier and national men and women’s league.

Nakuru Athletic Club drew 1-1 with visiting Kenya Police to assume premier league leadership.

They head the table standings with seven points, one more than second –placed Armed Forces. Police have started to rise steadily after they were shocked 1-0 by Kisumu Simba three weeks ago. They are placed third with four points collected from three matches.

Impala beat winless Vikings 2-0 in a women’s national league match at Barclays Bank Sports Club, Ruaraka on Sunday.

The victory saw Impala move to the second spot with seven points, two less than leaders Sliders.

Parklands Sports Club (PSC) drew 1-1 with United States International University (USIU) in the men’s national league to earn their third point of the season.

USIU are fourth with five points while PSC are sixth.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology lead the standings with 10 points followed by Greensharks (6) and Parkroad (5).
