MJPA: Cuba Plays US for Pan-American Hockey Semifinals Qualification

Cubaīs youth field hockey team plays the United States this Tuesday in quest for qualifying to the semifinals of the ongoing 8th Pan American Junior Championship in Havana.
Cuba presently shares the second place in Pool A with the US, with one win and one loss. Monday it scored an important coming-from-behind 4x3 victory over Guyana. It made a formidable come back from a 0-3 score. Also, the US squashed Jamaica 3-0.
In other matches this Tuesday among the teams from 11 countries participating in the tournament, Argentina (leader of Pool A) plays Barbados and Canada bangs head with Chile in Pool B. The later is the leader and Mexico remains the runner up.
The Antonio Maceo field in Santiago de las Vegas, Havana, will host Saturday the semifinal round. The winners will qualified for the World Junior Championships to be held in Rotterdam, Holland, from June 29 to July 10 and Cuba hopes to win one of the tickets.
Venezuelan Antonio Von Ondarza, the head of the Pan American Field Hockey Federation, lauded the eventīs organization, the joyous support of the peoples and state attention to sports.
