Havana, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) Field Hockey Pan-American Federation Chairman, Venezuelan Antonio Von Ondarza, lauded the organization of the ongoing regional youth tournament in Cuba despite the absence of the Dominican Republic.

The also vice president of the International Hockey Federation called excessive Argentina"s superiority on the rest of the nations who on the other hand do share similarities and have improved compared to the four past years and that is very important.

Von Ondarza praised the quality of the women"s team, and mentioned Argentina whose level matches the best teams in the world. He added that the organization is working in developing other countries, like Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

"The goal is to create more federations, join in more countries and people", although finances are tight hence they can not depend on one single country".

Von Ondarza is attending the ongoing 8th Pan American youth game in Santiago de Las Vegas, south of the capital, involving 11 teams.

Unlike other countries that depend upon sponsors and supplies from the Olympic Committee every four years, Cuba is different for sports are a state priority, added Von Ondarza. He even termed "fantastic" the show around a match in Santiago de las Vegas" field.

The official says he works in the continent in accordance with Olympic cycles and assured that the agenda for the coming years are pretty packed, which he termed a good sign to fill the gap with the rest of the world.

Mr. President

What are we in Panam planning to do about the huge disparity in development within the region?
Why are Argentina, Cuba & Canada always in the top 3 and the others who are in striking distance like Chile, Mexico, Barbados & Trinidad always also rans who have to wait 4 years to play tournaments?

Why is there so little development in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Jamaica & Santo Domingo. What about the rest of the Caribbean?

Please post on panamhockey.org this great agenda of which you speak?

Mr President I do to share the sentiments of the above comments. WHat are we doing to increase the amount of hockey being played in the region. Why can't we as a pan american region form an affliation with other regions to improve the standard of hockey and the comraderie of the sport .

Why can't we have more tournaments to improve the standard of play? Why can't we a Caribbean Cup? what is the reason behind the constant cancellations of the Pan American Cup? Why can't there be a tournament for the top three teams in each pan American region both indoor and outdoor?

Please post on Panamhockey.org your response or you can kindly reach me at
