International Federation Hockey coach Erwin Maarhuis from the Netherlands, Holland will return to Tobago in April for the third phase of the Sunbrella Development project.
Maarhuis recently completed the second phase in Tobago in which he worked with the players on Sunday January 16 and coaches and aspiring coaches on Monday 17.
The Sunbrella programme is an I.F H pilot development project geared towards improving the skills and coaching techniques of players and coaches respectively in countries that are developing hockey programmes. During his two days stint, Maarhuis stressed to the Tobago coaches that even if they don't have the necessary facilities or equipment they must be imaginative in utilizing what they have to compete their task.
Among the coaches benefiting from Maarhuis's experience are Sports Division coach Joyanne Prescott, Judy Wilson, Rennie Chandler, Christopher Scipio, Renee Charles, Winston Chadband and Annette Knot, coordinator of the Caribbean Sunbrella project.
Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados are the two Caribbean countries participating in the project.
