The semi-final line up of the Challenge Cup was finally concluded on Saturday when White Hart beat Sliema Hs 2-1 thanks to a golden goal from David Agius in the second half of extra-time.
White Hart now face Rabat Depiro tomorrow at 9.00 am, while the second semi-final, at 11.00am, will see Poiatti Qormi take on The Hunter’s Tower Restaurant YS.
Sliema Hs should have killed the game in the first half, when, besides scoring the opening goal through Simon Baldacchino, they created a good number of scoring chances that they failed to convert.
White Hart came more in the game in the second half and in the final 20 minutes were the better side and deservedly equalised five minutes from the final whistle. White Hart remained the better side during extra-time.
They could have closed the game during the first half when they were awarded a penalty stroke. Reno Cremona, (back with White Hart after his two match stint with Champions Rabat), saw his penalty stroke saved by Mallia.
White Hart were not to be denied, however, and half way through the second half of extra time David Agius hit in the golden goal from a short corner move.
