The South China Premier Hockey League, kicked-off on Sunday night, with HKFC defeating the HK Pakistan Assn 2-1, at Club.
HKFC were without Captain, Brad Munt (suspended for 2 yellow cards) and Zaki Detta (who's transfer from KCC was not registered in time for the Wednesday 22 September deadline). Pakistan Assn are still awaiting the arrival of two more Pakistani "imports", to bolster their line-up further.
Pakistan Assn went into the half time break with a 1 goal advantage, after HKFC failed to clear away a goal mouth scramble. Pakistan Assn, who took the "wooden spoon" in the 2003/2004 season looked to be heading for an upset.
It was two late "individual" field-goals, from veteran mid-fielder Peter Murphy, and Dutchman Rik Van Donk, that sealed the 3 points for HKFC.
The League is played in two stages this season, with the early rounds qualifying the top placed teams for the "Super League" round, where Hong Kong clubs and Macau, will get the chance to take on China's best.
