Former champions Sliders and Blue Eaglets renew their rivalry today in the Kenya Hockey Union women's league semi-finals at Barclays Sports Club.
The two meet at 4pm in the second semi-final after the 2pm match between defending champions Telkom and Armed Forces.
Telkom are determined to retain the trophy for the third year running. They can expect an easy semi-final today but will have to be on top of their game to win the final tomorrow.
Telkom have had a difficult season, where they lost 2-0 to Sliders in their last fixture and struggled to a 3-2 win against Mombasa Sports Club.
The match between Sliders and Blue Eaglets will be explosive.
Blue Eaglets will be led by ace striker Hellen Chemutai while their defence will rely on Terry Juma Masibo and Maureen Andwati. Sliders are led in attack by the Agunda sisters Anita, Tina and Dorsilla.
Meanwhile, the fate of Mombasa Sports Club hangs in the balance as the KHU disciplinary committee is yet to reach a decision.
"We don't want to touch them now, we are still deliberating on the action to be taken against the club but definitely they will have to face disciplinary measures," said Marie Laposo, a member of the committee.
The Coast Club is accused of walking out of their match against Armed Forces before the final whistle after they protested a penalty awarded to opponents during their group fixture at Aryan Sports club.
