Hong Kong's top hockey players, from the 2003/2004 SCPL season, are leaving on mass.

Arif Ali, who had just returned from a 1 month "guest" training stint with the Pakistan National squad, left yesterday to take up his second contract in the Malaysian Hockey League with RMR (Royal Malay Regiment). This year he is also joined by Shaheen and Hong Kong National team defender, Akbar Ali, despite suffering a continuing back injury. The MHL also features top Indian, Korean and English players. Both the Ali brothers will return for the 2004 / 2005 South China League, which will start in October.

Valley's superb former New Zealand (2002 Indoor) World Cup goal keeper, Matt Ellington has returned to New Zealand, after being unable to secure suitable employment and contracts conditions in Hong Kong. Ellington had hoped to turn out for the Hong Kong National team, after fulfilling the residency criteria.

HKFC and Hong Kong National team midfielder, Tom Ayres, is following Jerome Goudie's (Loughborough Students and England / Great Britain) lead and is moving to England to pursue both his banking and hockey career. Ayres will surely be snapped up by an EHL team, and is likely to switch allegiances to England, after having played for Hong Kong from 1998-2003. Ayres performed strongly against Great Britain, Korea and Japan in last years Hong Kong Super Cup.

Lincoln Churchill has resigned from his position at Hong Kong Football Club, last week, and will take up a spot back in New Zealand with the Wellington side, in the New Zealand National League. Churchill feels that after the Athens Olympic Games, a number of the New Zealand men's team will be retiring for International hockey. It had also been hoped that Churchill may be asked to turn out for Hong Kong as early as December 2004, for the proposed 2nd "Hong Kong Super Cup".

As one local official put it "as long the team is not fully funded and sport is no priority for the Government, there is little for the players to stick around for. Hong Kong made such great progress in the Asia Cup and Super Cup last year, but it takes more full-time investment in the team, to get to the next level of the China, Japan and Malaysia's. We could still do it and we will keep fighting".

Hong Kong's (LCSD) Leisure and Cultural Services Department has dramatically slashed funding for sports, in 2004. This action was met with virtually no public out-cry or criticism. Many observers find this strange, considering this country is hosting the next Olympic Games, in 2008. Is this just a case of "one country -two systems" for sport?

Sad to see you go Linc, please come back in a few years, as you are always welcome.

Please note the above idiots who contine attacks on Guv Dillon. Guv is of Indian origin and plays for HKFC. HKFC has over 200 Indian members, who are educated and leading members of Hong Kong's Indian community. The Indian idiots that write this crap about him are from the "scum of the earth" and are jealous of a nice bloke, that wears his heart on his sleeve.

Dear Peasants, leave Guv alone and save your racist abuse for when we next whip Bullets....

Please refrain from inciting racism on this page. It is highly inappropriate to be referring to anyone as "stupid gora." The indian community would surely not be proud of this writer's remark, because it really is quite an imbecillic thing to say, and is only going to lead to trouble on the pitch.

My thoughts..
After Dillon Realty went to Guongzhou to play in an invitation tournament. They played against Guongzhou ladies who consists of 7 national team players and thrashed them 5-2. I then realised that China ladies were top 5 in the world. As there are alot of players in the Hong Kong team already too old in the Mens side. I thought to myself, Why not change their gender so that the Womens side have a chance of winning a medal in future olympics. I think that this will be a really good idea. What do you guys think?

I think that Ernest Li is "too cool" for hockey. Infact he is one of the biggest bellends i have ever met. As a manager he was teaching the U21 players how to play hockey. when infact he plays in the lower division. A masseuse was there for both the mens side aswell as the female side. And he just took advantage of a free massage. "Jing pok guy lui ge!" go 1-2-5 even better!

He started playing hockey at a very young age and im happy that he has went to Singapore to represent the U21 side.. Dunno how this is but im now 30 something. Did he get a fake passport? 2003/2004 HKHA Annual Report
As usual, our president (Sandal man with shorts) does not care about the future of HK. The report was full of hopeless doubts about the coming year.

No plans for the developing youths, no proper coach and not even schedules or agenda on how to promote or help hockey to gain some exposure.

Roger is just focusing too much on HKFC. What he needs to do is to promote hockey.
HKFC is keen hockey supporter in every aspects and produces a lot of good hockey players and great hockey moments. Do it for HK too.

It's a shame that HKHA is still very much the same as before. No one knows what's gonna happen. Someone has to write some proposals on what to do for different squads and dveloping youths. All these players can only play. The HKHA has to come up with directions. Otherwise, players would not know what is gonna happen to their hockey.

Prepare the players for tournaments. Don't just prepare 3mths before any competitions.

Best of Luck to HK Hockey.

Registration fee
I don't understand why association need to receive $10,000 for a team for join the league.

For example:
12 teams in a division, a team will play 22 matches. It is not more than 30 matches including all the knock out cup matches.

Ground fee will be $168 for day time and $336 for night time. Umpire fee will be $60 per head per match.

We assume all play in day time, ground fee + umpire fee is only need $4320
Ground fee $168 x 30 + Umpire fee $120 x 30

According to normal knowledge, all the administration staff is paid by Governement. Therefore we should not need paid for their salaries.

I would like to ask why Association need to receive $10000 for a team. Association should be a service body and not a profit making body. It is not fair to all hockey participate.

Where To From here?
I fear that when the reign of the Ali brothers is over, it will be hard for HK to maintain a competative side in the AHF second tier, let alone compete in the Asia Cup and Asian Games. The league is no longer competative, with the only real teams in recent years being Shaheen and HKFC. Gone are the days when 5-6 teams would compete for the title, incl. Recs, KCC, NBC, Khalsa and even KNS.

While the current national side may be one of the best, there is no depth on the bench like the sides of '86 and '78.

The question should be asked, how are the HKHA planning to levearge its current strenth to ensure Asia Cup participation and continued dominance over the 2nd tier teams like Singapore, Sri Lanka, Oman and Taiwan?

Everyday Guv has been seen going to the temple as he prays for his country and hopes that the manager will play him. Wonderkids
KCC are now prepared to offload there wonderkid midfielder Kieran Smith to rivals HKFC. KCC are prepared to offload them with a transfer fee of at least 50M HKD. The 16 year old have been preparing himself this season by learning cantonese, manderin and punjabi in order to have full comunication with his teamates. All his efforts have been wasted. In fact, Kieran Smith is taking a reduced contract with HKFC in order to complete the gora mission. KCC are subjected to a 50% future transfer fee for this Hong Kong prodigy. We now wish the best of luck for Kieran after serving the club like over the past 2 years. KCC are now prepared to give a pay rise to his fellow wonderkid friends Ian Modder and Kelson Wong. We may be well looking forward to the start of the premier league when HKFC facing KCC with these 3 wonderkids have a chacne to determine there worth.

Re:Wayne
Yes Wayne. I was actually there to witness that the Valley Umpire blew the whistle 15 mins earlier. This is because we started the first half late because the umpire went to the loo. Its the umpires duty to start the game, not the players so therefore in this case the ump is in the wrong. Since we started the first half late. At half time he should have asked the teams wether they want to play a shorter second half or have a shorter break. i think that this should be brought up in the next Association Meeting. Teams pay something like $4000 to enter the league. Some people have to work to pay their fees. Some people get paid under minimum wage. So don't you think that playing less hockey and spoiling their fun has really hurt them inside? I am a very big fan of dillon realty and i always admire their style of hockey. I watch their games everyweek. And it is true that a valley player always spoils their fun. The coach in this case... prick

Premier Division Goalkeepers
I heard that Premier Division clubs are losing their keepers for the up coming season. HKFC A goalie left HK for UK, Valley A keeper went back to New Zealand, SSSC A's quit hockey. What is going on?

Why you worry about the overseas goalkeeper or players.... I think we should have more local players to bring them to higher level and not only expect overseas.

Shut up Son. Cut the brainless messages
KCC & Shaheen will no doubt be a strong side with the latest recruits and you generation for KCC and the outstanding record for Shaheen. But do not forget the Clubs that recruit players from abroad like Valley, Club A, Pak A & Bullets.

This season will definately be a close one and the will not be a favourite nor a real dark horse. Every team is capable of winning or losing.

I would sincerely hope that SSSA (Bullets) will play more hockey, control the temper of their players and get good results. The whole world is on India after Olympic. Being the only Indian team in the Super League. I really hope that everyone will perform greatly, fairly and bring all the HK hockey glory back.

Asian Club Champions (Men's)
Good news, 2003/2004 SCPL 3rd place KCC will represent HK for the coming
Asian Club Champions (Men's) in Dhaka, Bangladesh .
Due to KCC is the only team have alot's of Kids with free time.
This kids now have chance to play with top players from Indian, Pakistani, Korean, Japan
and Malaysia.
I'm very sure this boys will performed strongly against all top teams from Asia.
And last , This Boys are the only future from HK for the next Olympic Games, in 2008.

Valley
to be honest...Valley really sucks...compared to KCC & Dillon...come on...Valley's worse by a HUGE margin...

KCC & Dillon might be young kids...but they're bloody good and talented ones...unlike the older one in Valley who run around shouting at umpires when they don't blow to their benefit in games...

their games against KCC & Dillon were like babies playing against pro's...valley players being the babies who crawl around missing every tackle.

those who said that Valley was too good for KCC & Dillon in the summer league...get a life.

Tom & Linc
Tom was never a creative player. He could only run when he meets weaker opponants. Once it comes to strong ones..... he's sick or injured. We've seen that in HK and when he represented HK.

Linc is just over rated. He could hardly shine when he played against the Chinese, Shaheen and even KCC & Valley. He's short corner dragflick is just a joke. Merely over 60km/hr. Compair to the 130s over around the world. Good luck to his international career.

I just think that HK is the only place for their hockey

HK may not have the best turf in the world...but if Linc. is SUPPOSED to be a good drag-flicker / good at short corners...despite how "crap" the turf is (and hk turf is not THAT "crap") or how "crap" the pusher & stoppers are...Linc. would have drag-flicked better anyway. Blaming on the turf and his teammates is just a joke...look at good drag-flickers like Mustafa who is now in KCC...despite the "crap" turf, his drag flicks beat Linc.'s by a million times.

stop making lame excuses. it's all down to the skills. put it in simple terms in case this is too complicated for you to understand. Linc.'s skills are just not good enough. End of story.

looking forward to seeing Mustafa's drag flick. If hes better than Lincon he shud score a few this season as Lincon did last year. I am sure people will be watching now so no pressure for the young lad! Good luck - I bet he doesn't score any!

so i guessed you haven't been watching enough HK Hockey games huh?! Mustafa has been quite renowned for his drag-flicks...in fact...he scored the first goal in the Holland Cup Finals (was still in Shaheen A) against the HKFC A...which i trust you would know had Linc. Not sure if that article is still on the HKHA site...but his first goal was crutial as it lifted the entire team's spirit and resulted in the final score of 7-2...a huge victory of Shaheen. Mind you...Mustafa was the youngest in the team...only 17yrs old. I'm sure he'll continue to be a really watched player in the coming season...and his talents and hard work really deserves our attention. This year KCC A, with skillful players like Mustafa & Arif, will sure be a great team and I have no doubt that they would be the winner of the coming seasons to come.

I can't wait until KCC A plays HKFC A, it'll be a must watch game. Like 'person' said, with Mustafa and Arif, it's a really good team. Not saying that HKFC isn't a good team, but I think personally that KCC has more potential and talent then HKFC. I might be wrong, but that's just what I think.

KCC provides opportunities for the younger ones to have experience in the top leagues, while HKFC just use the same old players over and over again and really not exposing the younger ones to this type of competition. Like I said, I could be wrong, it's just my opinion.

"The Bomb is Back"
As many of you may already know. Its been almost two months after Michelle Bury came back from her "summer retreat". This may seem to be the true fact to most. However she has been secretly training during this period for somthing really special. This month she has been made captain of the Hong Kong Team. I am sure everyone is delighted to hear this. Michelle is also very thrilled, as she was unable to be captain of KCC for certain unfair reasons. This has really encouraged her and she promises to play harder from today on

Thankyou for all your support
