The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has decided not to take part in a 4-nation women’s hockey tournament scheduled in Kazakhstan from August 10.

“Pakistan will not participate in a tournament which has only a tag of 4-nation tournament. Except Pakistan, all the teams are from the host country,” said PHF Women’s Wing secretary Parveen Sikandar Gill on Monday.

Parveen said Pakistan hosted Kazakhstan in April-May 2004 test series and accepted the invitation to play in a 4-nation tournament in return. “We have come to know only two club teams and a junior team from the host country and Pakistan will be the participating teams in the 4-nation tournament. No other foreign team will feature in the event,” she said. Parveen said PHF authorities discussed the matter and decided Pakistan’s women team would not take part in the event as the participation would serve no purpose. app

Re: Women in Sports
Women being human have the same desire as men, if they want to do some activity like sports then permission should be given to them. They can lend a hand in the development of any country, so restrictions must be according to religion they belongs to, and every religion has rights for women.
