FIH Development programme tournament and festival dedicated to Lithuania's joining the European Union

On May the 1st, the day of Lithuania's joing the European Union, Lithuanian hockey federation organized a festival for players. Hockey matches were played by people of various ages all day long on the pitch of Zverynas gymansium.

Hockey was played in 3 groups with 4 teams in each group. The highest mastership teams played in group A. In the semifinal Vilnius "Zuvedra" men did not pity younger players from Sirvintos "Inta" (12:0), Lithuanian champion "Panevezys" after a long fight beat Vilnius "Ardas-Rudamina" (2:1). In the fight for the 3rd place "Ardas-Rudamina" won against "Inta" 6:0. "Panevezys" played against "Zuvedra" and won with the result 4:2.


FIH prizes were awarded to the best players: Valentinas Jankevicius ("Panevezys"), Domas Lekys ("Inta"), Rokas Rudenka ("Zuvedra") ir Rolandas Bereikis ("Ardas-Rudamina").

Joint Rudamina boys and girls team won against Sirvintos SC boys with the result 3:0 and "Zuvedra-Atgimimas" boys won in the game against Sirvintos SC girls 7:0 in group B. The third place went to young players from Sirvintos who won against Sirvintos girls 3:0. The final left no chances for "Zuvedra" and Rudamina won 5:0.

FIH prizes went to these best players: Alanas Tegkajanas (Sirvintos SC boys), Karina Makacenaite (Sirvintos SC girls), Albertas Kuslevicius ("Rudamina") ir Ricardas Kulikovskis ("Zuvedra-Atgimimas").

C group featured matches of "Zuvedra" boys and girls team, "Rudamina" boys and two teams of Lithuanian hockey fan club. The fans did not make their way to the final though. "Fans-1" were defeated by "Zuvedra" 0:4 in the semifinal. "Fans-2" lost the match to "Rudamina" - 0:1. "Fans-1" beat "Fans-2" and were the third, "Zuvedra" took the first place winning with the result 2:1 against "Rudamina".

The best players: Daiva Kuprinskien? ("Fans-2"), Dalius Matvejevas ("Fans-1"), Laima Sidlionok ("Zuv?dra") ir Valdemaras Giedrys ("Rudamina").

Alongside with the matches various competitions were organized all day long. Robertas Dzykovicius ("Zuvedra") succeeded in hitting the target - a hanged up tyre. The best penalty scorer was Valentinas Jankevicius ("Panevezys"). Laurynas Globys ("Zuvedra-Atgimimas")got the prize for the best juggling. In the relay-race the best was player Adomaitis, whose name we even do not know... All the boys received FIH DP prizes.

The organizers awarded with prizes (T-Shirts) the youngest and oldest participants of the festival. These are Sarunas Gudonis (Sirvintos SC) and Drasuole Bieleviciute ("Fans-1").
