Armed Forces still maintain top position in the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Premier League standings with an unassailable 22 points after last weekend's fixtures.

Forces, who beat Wazalendo 4-0 in their last premiership assignment at Aryan Sports ground on Sunday, have completed the league unbeaten, having won seven and drawn one match out of the total seven.

The soldiers have opened an11-point gap between them and second-placed Simba Union, who have 11 points and a match at hand. Simba can only manage a maximum of 14 points that is if they win their last encounter against Kenya Police.

Police, who were out of action over the weekend are third with eight points and can record a maximum of 11 if they beat Simba.

KHU officials say the teams will go for play-off matches on completion of all competitions to determine the overall winners.

The top placed team (Armed Forces) will play the fourth place finishers while the runners-up meet the team to occupy the third position in the premiership table standing.

Parkroad are perched at the top in the men's national league table standings with 18 points. They recorded mixed results over the weekend, losing 1-2 to Mombasa Institute (MI) and recovered 24 hours later to beat Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) 2-0 at Aryan Sports ground.

Parkroad are followed closely by Nairobi Gymkhana with two points adrift. Gymkhana did not have a match over the weekend.

United States International University (USIU) are still in third position with 14 points. The university team also recorded mixed results after they beat Mombasa Institute 2-0 on Saturday and going down 2-3 to MSC on Sunday. The MSC versus USIU results were the reverse of the first leg match in Mombasa.

The Nairobi team (USIU) overcame hosts MSC 3-2.

Two matches were played in the women's national league and the matches saw Vikings and Impala from Nairobi record their first victories of the season. Vikings and Impala both triumphed 1-0 over visiting MSC women's team.

Defending champions, Telkom Kennya are leading the pack with 18 points from seven matches. They have won six times and lost once. Blue Eaglets are second with 15 followed by Forces on 10 points.

Consequently, MSC registered their third consecutive defeat in the feminine league.
