The Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), despite having been given N10 million, wants more funds to facilitate the hosting of the Africa Champions Cup Championship next month.
The competition, which was earlier slated for early May, was shifted in accordance with Sports Ministry's directive. NHF has scheduled the competition to hold from 29th of May to 7th of June.
It noted that the N10 million released by the ministry would not adequately cater for organisational expenditure.
The federation's budget to the ministry is put at N30million.
Countries that will be represented in the competition are Ghana, Egypt, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Libya and host Ghana.
According to the federation, the competition will be held on the Astro Turf of the National Stadium, Abuja, and will be the first competition to be played there since the 8th All Africa Games.
