URUGUAY 5, VENEZUELA 0 (HT 3-0)
PlanetFieldHockey Player of the Game: Uruguay #18 Eleonora Rebolla
THE OVERVIEW:
Uruguay has all but secured their place in the 3rd/4th place game for the Americas Cup after this win. It took a while for Uruguay to score their first goal, but after they scored, they rolled to an easy win. Venezuela were positive on the field, trying to score their first goal of the tournament, but were unable to do so. Uruguay were ecstatic after the game,

ARGENTINA 9, JAMAICA 0 (HT 5-0)
PlanetFieldHockey Player of the Game: Argentina #16 Cecilia Rognoni
THE OVERVIEW:
Argentina was in charge of this game from the start. Scoring first in the 4th minute, the Olympic silver-medallists cruised to their 5th win in a row. Their penalty corner unit was on fire, Rognoni hammering in a natural hattrick in the first half on the way to a 9-goal win. Jamaica showed some initiative and speed going forward, but in the end their skills and fitness were not enough to compete with the women in the blue and white shirts.
THE WORDS:
Magdalena Aicega, Argentina Vice Captain, Central Defender
?This tournament is OK for us. We knew that we would play Canada and the USA, and that the other teams would not be as strong. But we have to continue to play the same way against all teams. We have to play well up here (pointing to head, referring to playing smart!).?
?We will be playing teams soon who will be very good. Australia is coming to play us in April, and then we have the Champions trophy.?
?It is good for us to play games. We have had a break for a while. Last year was a very long year of hockey.?
Dana Crawford, Jamaica Goalkeeper
?The Argentinean forwards attack in numbers. They have excellent skill, and at no time do you know what they are going to do. They are always ready to shoot, from anywhere.?
?We don?t have that level of skill here, so I don?t get that kind of practice, high shots and backhand shots.?
?It?s really a privilege to play against a team like this.?

CANADA 1, USA 1 (HT 0-0)
PlanetFieldHockey Player of the Game: USA #9 Tracey Fuchs
THE OVERVIEW:
This game was a battle. Not the most beautiful hockey, but the most entertaining game of the tournament nonetheless. Canada for the most part shut down the strengths of the US team, and vice versa. Neither team created many scoring chances in the first half. In the 48th minute, Canada?s Jenny Johnson scored a brilliant goal on a powerful forehand, then in her elation jumped up and threw her stick in the air. For this she received a yellow card (the umpire judging the stick-toss dangerous, although it didn?t hit anyone), and sat off for 10 minutes. The game tempo picked up after Canada scored, and the US began turning up the pressure. Four minutes later, Jill Reeve was slow to retreat from the ball on a Canadian free hit, and she earned her own yellow card. The game was hard-tackling high-intensity from here. The USA scored on a broken corner play in the 62nd minute, and the game ended in a draw. This will most likely be enough to get the USA into the Americas Cup final to play Argentina, leading Canada by goal difference. Today was Amy MacFarlane?s 100th game for Canada.
THE WORDS:
Dru Marshall, Coach, Canada
?I?m really proud of the kids. That?s the best game I?ve seen them play in a long time.?
?The umpiring was awful. We didn?t get our share of the calls ? I was stunned that they kept Jenny off for 10 minutes (after her goal and stick-throwing celebration). The umpire hadn?t seen it but the Americans complained.?
?The first half we played well, but we didn?t get anything, not even a shot. You?ve got to shoot the ball.?
?We know the weaknesses of the US better than anyone else, where the young players are, and we tried to capitalise.?
Nick Conway, Assistant Coach, USA
?It was a terrible game. Stop, start ? neither team was able to get anything going. Both teams know each other so well.?
?They pressed us in pretty well, and if you don?t have the basics to pass the ball, you won?t get through, and our basics were shocking today.?
?Really we?re lucky to get through.?
Jill Reeve, USA
On her yellow card: ?I was just protecting myself as I was moving back ? I guess it was just not fast enough.?
?Canada scored on a really good shot ? it was a real wake-up call for us. We weren?t playing the best hockey. The goal focused us to pick up the tempo.?
On Jenny Johnson?s yellow card: ?She threw her stick up. The celebration was in bad spirit. I think it was a good call.?
