The Federacion Venezolana de Hockey informed the Pan American Hockey Federation on March 2 that political unrest in the country could affect the course of the competition and jeopardize the safety of participants in the 2nd Indoor Pan American Cups scheduled to be played in Valencia, Venezuela, March 18 - 21, 2004.

Based on this advice, the Pan American Hockey Federation decided to cancel this competition, while thanking the local organizers and the Federacion Venezolana de Hockey for their efforts to arrange this event. The PAHF hopes to re-schedule the 2nd Indoor Pan American Cup at a later date in 2004.

The Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) is recognized by the FIH as the governing continental federation for all field hockey in the Pan American region. There are 21 member Nations of the PAHF.

US to British Isles
The US teams are planning to travel to England and Scotland next week to get some international competion. There is talk that Brazil may host the Pan Am Cup in July. I hope this goes through as many have worked hard to get ready only to have politics postpone the event.

Yankee, you for real?
I can't help but comment to Yankee's comments. Has he or she been reading what is going on in Venezuela at this present moment? So even if it is cancelled, every possibility exists that it can be held in another country or even go back to Venezuela. Pan Am is trying to promote the Indoor game and I am most certain they must be disapponted they had to cancel it. Of course we must still look at the situation in the country, right Yankee? I end with Hockey Community's comments.......yes our thoughts are with you all at this time, please stay safe.
