SSSC claimed a prize scalp of Valley on Sunday night in the South China Premier League hockey. Goals were scored by Naveed Khan (2), Navdeep Singh and Indian import Darshan Singh. Valley, who had been as high at 3rd place in the table, now drop to sixth.

KCC moved up into the vital ?top-4 play-off? position, by easily thrashing the hapless Pakistan Club, who have been unsuccessful in getting their four imported players Hong Kong Visa?s, this season. The effect of this is simply a totally uncompetitive Pakistan Club, in a SCPL League which is getting stronger and ?more professional? each year. Goals we scored for KCC by Aman Dillon (4), Arif Ali and, Jasbir Singh.

SSSC vs. Valley Game
Dudes, the umpires carried Bullets to that win, Valley never had a chance. They wasted their time turning up. Bullets players were chopping Valley down, screaming at the umpire and everything, and each time it was green, green, green, green. Then Valley say one word and bang, yellow. Valley had 3 players sent off for nothing.

One of the send off's was a spectator criticising the umpire and he sent a Valley player off for it. He didn't even know if the spectator was valley for god sake and even if he was, its not the players responsibility to control the crowd. Insane!

The first goal was a Valley players giving it to the other full back on the other side of the circle where the hit was to be taken. He wasn't even taking it. A bullets player jumped on it and flicked it in the net, and the goal was given. Where is the common sense!!! The second was a pathetic stroke decision, and so on. Everytime Valley looked like scoring the umpires shut them down.

Did I mention that I saw one of the umpires having a beer at half time. Real professional guys.

Hockey Game
What could we say about hockey nowadays¡K. It¡¦s just like trial society fighting for they site while police (HKHA) couldn¡¦t control it or do anything. Some may not agree with me but this is really what¡¦s happening in Hong Kong hockey nowadays. It¡¦s sad! John Stapley left the ground few weeks ago¡K. What is the result of that game, I am sure many of us looking forward for that.
How many hockey players in Hong Kong? I am sure they knew each other personally but the friendly manner was gone. Not much handshake after the game, not even appreciation to those 2 umpires who turned up for the game and make only $60 as their token. What went wrong and how it happens? As a hockey fans, I just want to see good hockey in a friendly way or sportsman way. Could HKHA or official of the clubs/teams do something about it, please! Let's make hockey again to be one of the best sports in HK that cover more in a positive way.

You are so right (again) Dwayne. While Valley were not at full strength they would have been able to beat Bullets in a fair match regardless of the Bull**its past results. It was sad to watch the grandstand-side umpire smiling as he awarded ridiculous penalties and gave goals that were a complete joke. They knew they were cheating and must have planned it this way before the game.

The funny thing was that even some of the bullets players were becoming embarrased to see what was going on.

There were many international visitors in the stand watching this game, one of whom is visiting me. He said that he has never seen anything like that in 20 years playing and watching hockey around the world. He witnessed both the umpires joining the bullets supportes in the stand at half time - one even taking the time to enjoy a 'well-earned' beer! It was an utter disgrace and something must be done about it. If not by the HKHA then the FIH itself needs to become involved.

This is not a case of a beaten team crying foul, but a genuine call to take a look at the standard of the umpiring that teams are having to deal with. The umpires have no fear of disciplinary action shown by the fact that one of the umpires at this match called the Valley captain an as*hole after the match. This incident was witnessed by his fellow umpire, many players from both sides, and also the umpire who was preparing for the next match. Bloody disgraceful!

Teams would be advised to start recording their games to collect proof of the crap they are having to put up with!

If it's true of what Shayne comment earlier, this will be a shame to the whole of Hong Kong hockey. Also shame to the team and umpire.
How could an umpire drink beer during half time? Could HKHA invesitate this issue, as this article got many overseas viewers. Please for the sick of Hong Kong hockey, HKHA do something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shayne & Dwayne
Honestly? Yes, you are quite right the umpires were nothing but crap. But crap doesn't necessary means being bias. In my opinion, both teams got weird decisions and it just happened that Valley's were more bizzared, well.. a lot more. But if it was the other way round, you surely would have just thought, 'oh that's weird, but i wouldn't mind, cheers mate.' and carried on playing. Which I suspect that was generally what the bullets players had in mind. About the carding thing, correct me if I am wrong, I do remembered Naveed got a yellow for mouthing off. Guys, I don't really think this conspiracy theory thing really sounds convincing. Think of it this way, how bizzare do you feel, say, if it was john and Lyle were the umpire of the game, and they gave a pretty bad game, the results were Valley won 4-0 and Bullets start coming out the some sort of conspiracy theory saying it was all a big set up? (Ok.. they don't drink at half times, but they do have bad games yeah?) ... umm not very convincing is it?
Although you can quite rightly to say the umps had a part in Valley's lost, you have to admit that Valley's performance didn't do themselve justice. They didn't look like they were going to scorce when they had the ball and just simply didn't convert their many chances. A couple of direct hit at goal or 1 on 1 and More then 8 or 9 short corners but didn't convert a single one. That, you have only yourself to blame. Being confident is one thing, but I seriously wouldn't say it so firmly that Valley can beat whoever without a fullstrength team, not in this league at this moment. Each team is so close (of cos apart from the obvious guandong) and I just feel that anything can happened. I mean come on, when Valley beat Shaheen, that wasn't exactly an expectation was it?

Shayne is Right On the Mark
Well done Shayne, everything you say is completley accurate, and I know cause I was there and saw it all as well. Anyone who thinks this league is serious and "professional" is completly crazy.

Desi, if you think a full stretngth bullets team would beat a full strength Valley team with sober umpires, non bias umpires then you are more crazy than I first thought. You clearly have no comprehension of the game.

So come on HKHA, we have 2 cheating umpires, at least one was drinking during the game, and have a look at the ladder, this has affected the final standings for the entire season. Why should any team, Valley, HKFC, or anyone even bother turning up when all their training and endeavours are going to waste. DO SOMETHING HKHA!

Yes, there was some point was right but it was just a protection of what had happen that day. I agree with Simple Man, let's do something to make hockey in HK in a positive way. What we are facing here is jealous, hate, shelfish, no appreciation etc. I beg you guys to stop all this rubbish. If we all complain about HKHA is doing nothing in development, umpire, training, grounds and so on.. then why couldn't we do something. There is a sentance: 'If someone gonna do it, why don't you do it'!! Not only just picking on someone.

To "Ok, I was at the game"
Pull your head in mate. We're not saying it was a conspiracy, we're saying that 3 of the goals they were given were under appaling circumstances. I'm not complaining about the result, and I'm not saying the game should be replayed.

Full strength Valley are better than Full strength Bullets any day. End of Story.

What I am saying is that the HKHA must act now, and clean this up. The drinking at half time with Bullets fans is one of my greatest concerns. I challenge anyone to justify it. Come on, let here it. I ask anyone to justify the umpire calling the Valley captain and A*SEHOLE after the game. That should be interesting. All I can say is that I wish I had a tape of the game to show you the behavious of the Bullets players on the ground.

Finally, can someone please find me the rule where a Valley player, who is not the captain, is sent from the ground because of a spectator telling the umpire he needs glasses. Let me know if you have any success. It is not the players (or captains) responsibility for the actions of the crowd. If the umpire is not happy with a member of the crowd, he has to dismiss them personally himself. The players are not involved.

well shayne....i do agree tht bullets fan shout at umpires without reason.....but then u also mentioned tht ealier tht its not players responsibility to control da crowd....u cant ask ur friends or fans not to enter da pitch....its their wish.....n i dont think tht shouting of spectators made valley lose......u can blame umpires...coz as u said tht they were drinkin on half time....if u saw them drinkin y didnt u told any member of hkha there...i bet there was at least one memeber there in kings park around tht time....
i know tht sometimes they rough...even when they played our team few weeks back...they played really roughly....but u guys should learn yea...how to face them...its not 3rd or 4th division....it premier division....if they hit u ..hit them back ....backin off wont help......
as i said earlier......BE BRAVE TO FACE EVERYTHING

well if u think tht im crazy...then i think u SHOULD ask valley to hv a friendly match with sccc....with UR SOBER UMPIRES...then lets see...whos crazy....DeSi or Shayne

sccc is not havin a bad team this season.....so watch outtttttttttttt

It would never happen in England...
Guy's, about the game itself...Bullets DID play a good game & on the day deserved the win, well done.
However, it has to be said that there were a number of unusual umpiring decisions that antagonised Valleys performance & aided their downfall...

The Umpire's looked like they tried to stamp out any appealing & back chat.......Good, it is needed and it does influence weaker umpires!

It would not be tolerated in the UK at all. Persistent appealing & back chat in whatever language is not good for the sport & only goes to undermine/influence umpires decisions....

The first goal, what was the umpire doing? Even from the crowed it looked like the ball was being moved to the correct place for the 16..

The flick - always open to debate...

Sending a player off for attempting to calm/control a crowd? Remember the Bullets-Shaheen game. Did anyone attempt anything that day or is this a new rule that has been brought up recently?

Basically, whatever the sport there will always be crowd involvment & nothing can really stop this. However, alcohol has a really bad influence on people & does tend to bring out the worst out too...

Based on this why & how could an umpire be so stupid as to be seen drinking whilst performing his/her role during a game of hockey..Did the booze help making decisions for you? Maybe, this was why 2 Valley players & a SSSC got sent off in the second half?

It makes a bloody mockery of the efforts that others are doing to raise the image of HK Hockey...Ban alcohol sales form all pitches, stands & allow no alcohol allowed into grounds. In 2 games now I have seen umpires drinking & whitnessing more cards been given out than at Christmas time....

Lets get htis sorted out HKHA.....
