A young England 'potential' team lost 3-2 to the touring women's Russia squad at Bisham on Thursday.

Russia led 2-1 at half-time thanks to penalty corner goals either side of an equaliser from Sunderland's Julie Hope.

In the second half Jo Ellis was sin-binned before the visitors made it 3-1 on the counter-attack, although Hightown's Charlotte Hartley's late deflection gave some hope, as did Clifton's Lizzie Sinton on her England debut.

On Monday Russia, who beat England B 2-0 on Wednesday, play the GB side which will compete at next month's Olympic qualifying tournament in Auckland.
