Officials for Pan American Cup
Officials for the Pan American Cups (Men in London, Women in Barbados) are not finalized yet.
The lists will be posted on the PAHF web site as soon as they are approved by the FIH (within 2 weeks).

The groups look similar to the Pan Am Games with the addition of Brazil, Puerto Rico and Venezuela in Group A and Mexico, Netherlands Antilles and Uruguay in Group B. Also, there is no Barbados.
What were the qualification tournaments for this? I know there was one late last year where the Netherlands Antilles upset the US I believe. Were there any others?
Also, what other tournaments are available for Pan Am teams to make it to the World Cup should they place second or even third in this tournament?

Qualification
There were 2 qualifying tournaments for this Pan Am Cup:
For “Region 1”, the South American Championship (March 16-23, 2003 – Santiago) was used as a qualifier. 1) Argentina, 2) Chile, 3) Peru, 4) Uruguay, 5) Brazil and 6) Paraguay. The top 5 teams qualified.
For “Region 2” (May 5 to 11, 2003 - Santo Domingo): 1) Cuba, 2) USA, 3) Mexico, 4) Netherlands Antilles, 5) Puerto Rico and 6) Dominican Republic. The top 5 teams qualified. This is the tournament where the Netherlands Antilles upset the USA (2-1).
Canada was qualified directly as host. Peru qualified but decided not to come. T&T and Venezuela were added to the roster.
The other way to qualify for the 2006 World Cup is through the WC Qualifying Tournament, but I think that it is based on world ranking and not on who finishes 2nd or 3rd in their Continental Cup (like the Olympic Qualifier in Madrid).

Qualification??
What kind of qualification system is set up to qualify 11 countries including the host?
This means that other countries have to be "added".
On what basis are the "additions" selected?
The two countries "selected" didn't even participate in the "qualifiers".
Please understand that I have nothing against T&T and Venezuela - I am just questioning the "system".

SENSE
The pan am region is not dominated by much hockey teams,so even if teams don't deserve to be there does it even matter? C'mon the more teams, the more "competition" the better. Whats the matter.!!Except for probaby the US,Argentina and Canada, other countries in the region can't even afford to travel to seek competiton and make there brand better. So forgive the process a little.Let the little countries have there fun in the sun too.I hope a surprise winner or a shock defeat occurs.thanks
