Women's national hockey league champions Telkom won their third consecutive match with a 3-1 victory over Sliders at the Barclays Bank Sports Club.

Telkom toyed around with the youthful Sliders before striding to the comfortable win. However, it was Sliders who scored first in the 13th minute when Anitta Agunda beat Susan Odongo in the Telkom goal with a tricky shot.

Sliders exerted more pressure and dominated play, especially in the mid-field with Nancy Chepchumba, Dorsilla Agunda and Lynette Onyango standing out. Elidy Wambui in the Sliders goal blocked some great shots from fellow goalkeeper-turned-forward Josephine Ataro.

Telkom coach Sandy Mukwana must have had some harsh words for his players at half-time because in the second half they woke up and camped in Sliders' half for the opening 10 minutes. This resulted in a goal by former Sliders forward Jackline Ogot in the 43rd minute.

Florence Olal got the second goal in the 62nd before Betty Tioni wrapped it all up in the 64th minute.

On Saturday, Blue Eaglets went on a goal scoring spree at the Thika High School against Central Rangers whom they drubbed 13-0. Hellen Chemtai, Terry Juma-Masibo and Pristine Njeri scored a hat-trick each. Captain of the day and national team player Lilian Nafula scored two goals with Vyonne Oyugi and Grace Watare adding one goal each.

All is not well in the newly introduced men's Premier League. Only one match was played at the weekend between Armed Forces and Nairobi Simba Union. The soldiers won 2-1.

Two teams - Mombasa Youngstars and Nyanza Wanderers - are yet to play any match. Many players from Mombasa Youngstars have moved to Mombasa Institute and Mombasa Sports Club, who play in the national men's league. This has left Youngstars with no player base.
