Danish Hockey Union was proud to host the 1st Indoor baltic Cup and welcomed following teams:
Men:
Denmark
Sweden
Finland
Russia
UHC (Germany)

Women:
Denmark
Lithuania
Sweden
UHC (Germany)

Friday evening Denmark met Finland. The danes thrashed Finland with 12-0. The next match was Saturday morning against Russia. After 10 minutes the danes were up with 3-0 and the home crowd was expecting a victory. But the russians came strong back and went up with 4-3 with 5 minutes left. The danes stroke back and equalised and were actually lucky holding the draw after a russian penalty corner in the overtime. The next match was against the former german champions (2002) from Uhlenhorst. Uhlenhorst showed up with a very strog squad and used the tournement for a preparation to the german quaterfinals within 14 days. The match was very well played and the danish team managed to keep up with the strong germans. The match ended 8-6 to Uhlenhorst but the danish coach and former national player Christian Ulrich was satisfied with the teams perfomance.

In the last pool match Denmark was facing Sweden. Denmark was forced to win this match to earn a spot in the final and at the same time Uhlenhorst should beat Russia. The danes controlled the match from the very first minute and won the match with 7-3 after a splendid performance. Uhlenhorst also won against the russian with 7-3 but the russians really kept up with the germans in long periods. This meant the mens finals was between UHC and Denmark with Denmark having a better goaldifference than the russians.

In the final, unfortunately, Denmark had to injured key players which was one of the reasons why the danish team never got into the match. The germans had no mercy and outplayed the danes in the first half. 7-0 at half time was close to a humiliation and especially Philip Sunkel was lethal every time he had the ball in the circle. Second half was more equal but still the germans were superior. Uhlenhorst never relaxed and won the match 12-3 against a tired danish squad.

In the womens final Lithuania met Uhlenhorst in a very close match. After 2-2 in ordinay time the lithuanians won the penaltystroke competion.

The 1st edition of the Indoor Baltic Cup was a great succes with some great hockey and many people hope to see the event again in the future.

Nice write up, Emil and sounds like a fun tournament. In the same way you are growing indoor in the Baltic, (great to see Finland there), we are hoping for the continued growth of Indoor in the Americas. The 2nd Indoor Pan American Cup is coming in two months in venezuela.

Good luck also to Orient Lyngby in the European A Indoor.
