Where's Jamaica these days
Can anyone enlighten me on why neither of Jamaica's Men's or Woman's teams aren't in these Tourneys?

Jamaica?
Jamaica needs to get a FIH coach in to change their styles of play. Unfortunately as you can see from the women in Pan Am, they have a lot of work to do. The players are still playing grass hockey, very upright as one example. It would be so good to see them competing again at that level.

I guess
I think Brazil was invited because they will held the next Pan American Games in 2007. PAFH does not want to happen again what we saw in Santo Domingo, where Dominican Republic lost games with 25-30 points of difference.

Netherlands Antilles
Netherlands Antilles played in the Region 2 Qualifier for the Pan American Cup last May (in Santo Domingo) and finished 4th out of 6 teams, but with the same number of points than the 2nd and 3rd teams (USA and Mexico).

They even shock the USA with an upset 2-1 victory which was their first ever international win! Their previous best result was a draw (1-1) against Bermuda at the 1967 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.

To be honest, I don?t know if they played much on the international between 1967 and 2003.

Conditions
I see Barbados hosting the Women's competiiton but what is happening in terms of their facilities? Do people have to sit and battle with the elements once again or will they about time constrict a proper stadium facility. They have a good pitch but that is it at the ground.

Ja hockey
Jamaica hockey is nowhere. right now ppl lay for fun. The constitutuionis being amended to change some ways the sport is run. Hopefully the change needed to push the sport foward it starts there. This "man mash up hockey" "woman mash up hockey" is feelings between a set of ppl who cannot realise they are discouraging the youth from playing and serving in admin posts as they do not want to be a part of "passa passa". Stuff is just wrong out here, you nedd to be here to get the full story. Modern gym equipment sitting down in a container at the field not being utalised to earn income or being used by national members. The national programmes have no continuity, so there is no progress. Clubs also need to examine themselves. Few clubs have any stable structure. anyway i hope this year will bring PEACE and PROSPERITY to the sport.

Windies team???!@#%#
The suggestion of a West Indian Field hockey team is ridiculous. This isn't cricket there isn't enough money in the sport to do that.

Is there any money anywhere, but the US? Puerto Rico suffers the same consequences. Little money for basic equipment let along money to send the players to outside tournaments. No wonder some countries are having such a hard time with development.
