EDITOR: This will be the first installment of a regular column written by Kahlon for planetfieldhockey...

Over the last few months I have read some very interesting comments on planetfieldhockey – these included people complaining that we are not supporting the players on our Canadian National team - in particular our women’s team in their quest to win the Americas cup.

It is very rare when a selection is made that everyone agrees with. People have been making comments on players that they think should be on the team. Some legit and some that make me laugh.

The bottom line is anyone that writes in and makes comments wants the best for our team. Everyone has a right to their opinion. You don’t have to agree but you have to respect the fact that they have that right.

The reason that it’s called a National team is because once they put on that Maple Leaf they represent us all. Good luck ladies! Please send in your comments, negative or positive.

Jim Rome move over! Ravi is in the Jungle! Thanks Ravi, now can we hear some juicy gossip about the men's program? What's next for the boys? Any thoughts on the next coach?
Cheers!

I agree with Ravi's comments. Often the truth hurts or someone's perception of the truth hurts. However, the world would be a flavourless porridge if all people agreed. Where would be the fun, controversy...what would Oprah talk about. Conflict, in any form is a path to change. Let people have their say...this website provides an alternative for those who were previously silenced for any reason. Great work from Andrew and HAri and I look forward to more stimulating and controversial articles from Kahlon.

Well said Ravi!! Controversy is good, however there is a distinct difference between controversy and trash!! That is the difference between Oprah & Jerry Springer. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but there is no need for trash talking and insulting individuals. Keep up the controversy but keep out the trash, we do not want to lower ourselves to the level of the Jerry Springers!!!!

Right on Raviolli!

I agree SD, personal insults won't help get Canada to the World Cup... but those ladies are public figures of sorts, and like all public figures they are open to critism and attack. When accept public money, you have to take the public's critism. Sorry girls (and boys).
